In late 2018, the lights came on at The Foundry, one of the Asheville area’s newest downtown hotels. This luxury boutique hotel is steeped in history, and at Custom Glass Products, we were proud to be a part of its development. Our role in this historic building’s restoration involved supplying the glass and grids with custom Decralite® SDL products.
The Foundry is an 87-room hotel that is connected by three contiguous buildings. It features a 3,500-square-foot lounge, a marketplace that offers items from local retailers, and a 100-seat restaurant called Benne on Eagle. But The Foundry’s building was not always this glamorous, and it took years of rehabbing this set of aging buildings to get it ready for its first guests. Set within Asheville’s original steel foundry, the site of this hotel is where steel was forged for The Biltmore Estate and many of the city’s most prominent buildings.
Because The Foundry is a one-of-a-kind building, we used a similarly unique Decralite® SDL grid system when replacing the different glass features and grids throughout this historical hotel.
